Get Your Credit Score

Your credit score is a judgement about your financial health at a specific point in time.  It indicates the risk you represent for lenders as compared to other consumers.  Basically, it’s a mathematical formula that translates data contained in your credit report into a three digit number that lenders use to make credit decisions.  Higher credit scores are better.  The higher your score the lower risk you represent for the Lender.

To get your credit score, you may purchase it from either one of the two main credit reporting agencies. Both Equifax and Trans Union offer consumers real-time online access to their credit score (your credit report as well as an explanation on what is helping/hurting your credit score is included).  Equifax charges $23.95, while TransUnion’s fee is $22.90.
